Seven teams recently participated in a netball tournament held in Cosmo City’s extension 10 with a number of people from different communities attending the event.
Teams that participated in the tournament are Scorpion CC (Cosmo City ext10), All Stars (Cosmo City ext 4), Manchester (Cosmo City ext2), Black Jaguars (Riverside), Mighty Blues (Riverside), Fair Girls (Lanseria) and Rhino (Diepsloot).
The aim of the tournament was to raise funds for Scorpion Netball Club said Coach Eunice Makgahlela who organised the tournament.
"I chose Ext 10 because it's our home field and I wanted parents to come and support us," Makgahlela explained. "Sports in the community are very important because they keep our children off the streets and allow them to meet and learn from new people."
She said she wanted to host the event again this year, but because other teams want to host as well, she will have to support them and may host next year in 2024.
“However, this year we will hold a large closing ceremony as the ladies are preparing to write their final examinations, and we will select Miss Scorpion CC as we did last year.”
She said that the young girls like what she does for them.
"I also appreciate the support from the parents they give me, and the whole community appreciates what I am doing for girls; I have never had a complaint from anyone in the community," she said.
